13-year-old Kerry Close of Spring Lake, New Jersey won the Scripps National Spelling Bee this Thursday.

(more interesting news to come later, but had to represent for HTHS before bed. For the record, I was in all the way to the second day of the Monmouth County spelling bee in 8th grade until I got out on the word "roundelay." Whatever. I'm over it.)
